An exmaination of the views and traditions present within the Lake District's farming community that seeks to understand the conflicting aims of the region's designation under UNESCO as 'an unrivalled example of a northern European upland agro-pastoral system', and England's new Environmental Land Management Scheme which encourages the rewilding of agricultural land in the wake of the UK's exit from the European Union and its Common Agricultural Policy.
